My Spare Time

I like to do lots of things in my spare time.  I get a lot of spare time because I usually finish my school work really fast, so I have more time to do things that I enjoy.  Some of the things that I like doing are reading, playing outside, and making crafts.
I like reading because it is interesting and it takes me to other worlds.  The first book that I really actually loved is called Moon Dogs.  It’s mostly just a picture book, but it really lit up my interests.  Ever since then, I’ve liked reading books about mythology.  Mythology is magical and sometimes it scares me even though I know that the stuff I’m scared about could never actually happen.  I like hearing the adventures that people have in the different stories.
Playing outside is fun because I get to be in nature, which is one of my favorite playhouses.  I like being there because it’s so big and there are so many things to explore.  I like the animals and plants, and I like the open space to run.  I feel so free when I’m outside.
I like making crafts because it really entertains me and puts my brain to use.  I like making things that some people would never have thought of.  There are so many different things I can make out of cardboard and hot glue.  I picked these really cool plants from our field and glued little eyes on them and called them fuzz buds.  I made little houses for them out of old cardboard boxes.  This is just one of the many things I like making.  I also like making wire crafts by using these tools to shape them into rings and putting beads on them.  There are so many things you can do with a few tools, wire, or cardboard.

These are the kinds of things I like doing in my spare time from reading, to playing outside, to doing crafts.  I feel really creative when I do these things, and when I don’t get to do them, I can feel bored or not as excited as I usually am.  I wish everyone in the whole world could have as much spare time as I do.  Some people don’t get any at all.

Unifying Upper and Lower Egypt

In ancient times Egypt was formed into two separate nations called Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.   The kings of these nations wanted to rule both Upper and Lower Egypt.   Eventually there was a war.   The king of Upper Egypt wore a white crown and the king of Lower Egypt wore a red crown.   So when the king of Upper Egypt, King Menes, won the war he wore a double crown.   Menes ruled for a long time. art badge portfolio

These are the pictures I made for earning my art badge for girl scouts.

This is my logo.

This is my perspective piece that has farther away things smaller.

This is my face with shading.

This is a room in perspective.

And this is a still life of a wire, scarecrow candle holder my mom has with candy corn candles for Halloween.

This is Fall

I wrote this poem today about Fall.  I used the same format as a poem called That Was Summer, but since it's not Summer, I did Fall.

This Is Fall

This is Fall.
The air is sweet,
the sun is shining radiantly
the leaves have changed from green to red.

This is Fall.
The ground is yellow and our eyes are too as we gaze at the mountains.
Just for you, this is Fall.

My Dog: a paper for Language Arts

Have you ever gotten a pet?   I was 6 years old and it was my brothers birthday.   We were going to the store when I spotted a crate of dogs! I was so happy because  my brother wanted a puppy for his birthday. Mom asked dad if we could get one.   WE GOT ONE!

We read books about a panda and we named our dog Still-Water after the panda.   Next we got it toys and a crate to sleep in.   We played with it all the time when we left the room she would chase us out so I started to throw a ball and  she would chase it away from us

We still have her and we got another dog and  they live in a  extended run and are super nice.   We all love them like lots lots lots.   When I ride my bike I watch them run all the way to the end of the cage .   It reminds me of when  I threw them the ball.

Anticipating the Beach

Today I am going to the lake in the too hot to be real California.  I am excited because I really badly hope it will be a warm sunny day so I can jump into the icy water and it won’t feel cold.  I want to play in the water, play in the warm sand, and spend a fantastic lunch and dinner there.

The water will be pretty cold, but I don’t think I’ll mind it once the air temperature gets too warm to cool off at all. We’ll look for shimmering shiny fish in the water and I’ll try to catch one and then let it go once I look at it.  The sun will sparkle off the water and make it look like it’s from a old fairy tale.  Sometimes you can actually live in fantastic fairy tales.

Once I get too cold in the water, I’ll get out and play in the nice warm sand.  I’ll try to make a beautiful sand castle and maybe even bury my funny brother and leave only their cute heads out.  I’ll try to build shimmery streams from the water onto the sand to make a mote around my fantastic castle.  Maybe we can even have a sand castle building contest.

Once we’ve played in the sand for a while, it will be time to eat.  I’m hoping we’ll have sandy beach sandwiches for lunch and for dinner, I’m not sure yet, but I’m sure it will be good whatever it is.  My grandma always comes up with something delicious.  We might have snacks like graham crackers or fruit and then it will be time to go home.

I’m crazy excited to play in the water, the warm sand, and eat good food there.  I’m sure me and my brothers will have a palm tree counting contest on the way back.  Then it will be time to go to bed.  I’ll dream about the magical and wonderful day as I fall asleep.  It’s a good way to get started on falling asleep because if you start your dream a little early, it helps you fall asleep better.

My Day With My Cousins

My Day With My Cousins

I am in the blazing hot state of California with my very nice family. I so far I’ve had a pretty good time with my hilarious grandma.  Yesterday I went out my cousin’s new house. We watched an eclipse, played in my cousin’s huge swimming pool, and had red velvet cake and cupcakes.

The eclipse was cool because it made every shadow a circle pattern.  My cousins said that the circle patterns looked kind of like swirly smoke.  It got kind of dark, but not too dark, like I imagine maybe Snow White’s cottage being in the early evening.  My grandma cut a small hole in a piece of cardboard and held it up to the sun so that you could see the moon in front of the sun on the wall of the house.  You could see the sun shining through the hole and a dark spot in front of it.

In my cousin’s big swimming pool, it was very cold but we adjusted fast.  We gave my brothers long rides in big rainbow chair floaties.   We let my brothers sit on them and we held on to the edge and swam around so that it was like they were in a big slow ship.  Sometimes my brothers squirted us with squirt guns, which was kind of fun now that I think about it, even though I yelled at them when they did it.

We had dessert around the pool and we could watch the eclipse while we ate.  The red velvet cake was so delicious.  I devoured it very fast.  And the cupcake frosting was a good raspberry flavor.  You could even feel the seeds with your tongue.  Mmm, that was yummy!

The eclipse was amazing, the swimming pool was nice, and the dessert was totally good.  My cousins and I had fun getting time to spend with each other.  It was nice seeing my uncle and aunt because we hadn’t seen them in a long time.   Next time we see them I’m sure we’ll have the same amount of fun, but maybe even better.
